As a CYPH though you became tired f the Real world. I.e. Zion, Machine or Exile. So they joined the CYPH movement in order to one day be put back. Their brains would have accepted re-insertion as its what they desire more than anything! Memories I couldn't see being a hard thing. I mean lets look at the Athlete in "World Record". He didn't seem to have an overwhelming desire to find out what happened when he temporarily woke up!? He seemed to have that knowledge erased perhaps.
